Dulce Domum: Patricia Griffin

Patricia Joan Griffin, Priestess
Dulce Domum December 12, 2019

In loving memory of Patricia Joan Griffin (née Cahill), who passed away after a long illness. She was one of the original members of the Fellowship of Isis and a longtime participant in rituals at the temple at Clonegal castle. Patricia founded one of the first lyceums in the College of Isis of the Fellowship of Isis. It was named the Lyceum of Aine and Sophia and operated in Dublin, Ireland. Patricia was designated a member of the Archpriesthood Union when it was founded by Olivia Robertson in 1999; and appointed by Olivia as a member of the Circle of Brighid in 2004, and the Nemeton of Dana in 2006. She was chosen by Olivia Robertson as the priestess who would head rituals at the temple at the castle when Olivia was no longer able to do so. The trust Olivia placed in her, spoke volumes of Patricia’s integrity and capabilities as a priestess. Olivia often referred fondly to Patricia when conversing with visitors at her home and during her travels outside of Ireland.

Olivia once wrote: “I’m trustee of the Temple of Isis here and my nephew owns the castle. Archpriestess and Hierophant Patricia Griffin will assist in maintaining festivals, and because of her I know rites will continue to be performed there when I’ve gone.”

Unfortunately, Patricia Griffin was, by the time of Olivia’s death, not able to fulfill this role due to health issues. Patricia was a resident of Dublin, Ireland, and was known and loved by many in the Fellowship of Isis and wider Goddess community. She was respected and enjoyed a friendship with both Lawrence Durdin-Robertson and Olivia Robertson for many years.

Olivia Robertson also shared that Patricia was related to a prominent British political family, that of British Prime Minister Henry Asquith and Baroness Violet Asquith. The Baroness was a Dame Commander in the British Empire, who entered politics when it was rare for women to do so, and rare for a woman to be taken seriouisly! Patricia was also related through this family to the actress Helena Bonham Carter, according to Olivia, and was a distant relative of Florence Nightingale.

Patricia was featured in the segment about the Fellowship of Isis in “The Occult Experience” filmed by Neville Drury in 1985. Patricia was one of the FOI members asked by Olivia to participate in recording audio tapes of FOI liturgy rituals. An ordination of a member of her lyceum as priestess was filmed for a program which aired on the Learning Channel, produced by the University of Los Angeles in 1997. Patricia Griffin, we thank you for your years of faithful service and we say your name that you may live! May you dance along the starry pathways!

In Loving Memory: Olivia Robertson

Remembering Olivia Robertson
April 13, 1917 – November 14, 2013

Celebrating Her Life and Remembering Her Vision

“I had been thinking of this, about our Arcadian dream of connecting spiritually with where we live. I had a vision of the Aquarian Grael in a room in our north-west wing. In the main keep, directly over the Holy Brighid Well, came my vision of Isis. She appeared in the north at Samhain, 1946. I feel we can all link our spiritual adventures with our homes. This earth is where we grow. An eagle needs a nest.”

“The birds call their song of hope to wandering souls,
Pilgrims in search of their lost heaven.
Within the Mother’s Home
is hidden the Source of Life.”

Temple of Isis Convocation 2019 - Anuket and Hapi

Temple of Isis and Fellowship of Isis Convocation
Honoring Anuket and Hapi
Thursday, October 10 – Monday, October 14, 2019

Hosted by Temple of Isis

Isis Oasis Sanctuary, 20889 Geyserville Ave., Geyserville, CA, 95441

Our Annual Temple of Isis and Fellowship of Isis Convocation will take place Thursday, October 10 – Monday, October 14. The event will take place on the beautiful and sacred grounds of Isis Oasis Sanctuary in Geyserville, California. Along with a beautiful series of presentations, we offer ordinations every year, after a course of study with an ordained member of the clergy of the Temple of Isis and/or Fellowship of Isis. We also offer blessings of the path, for those embarking on a course of study or a new facet to their spiritual growth.

This is one of the main events offered at Isis Oasis each year. It serves to further awareness of the Goddess based spirituality and also honors the Gods. This event is a fundraiser, and as Temple of Isis is a 501(c)3 non-profit, all donations are welcome, even if you cannot attend. Please direct donation questions to deTraci Regula at Isisoasistoi@gmail.com or call our office: 707-857-4747

Many talented and magical people attend, offering informative and inspirational presentations. Our schedule is robust, while providing a lot of friendly downtime to reconnect with friends, Mother Nature, and the TOI/FOI community. No matter what your spiritual practice is, we are inclusive, not exclusive. First-timers are especially welcome. We hope you will enjoy all that our Retreat Center has to offer.

If you are planning to attend and have not booked your reservations yet, please do so by calling 707-857-4747, or emailing Isis Oasis with "Reservations for Convocation" in the subject line at: Isisoasistoi@gmail.com or visit our website: www.isisoasis.us or telephone our office at 707-857-4747

Room rates are per person, shared occupancy. Lodge rooms are $125/person per night and include all events and meals. Dorm rates are $75/night, or free for volunteers (contact Isis Oasis if you wish to volunteer). Day passes are $60 and only cover events from 11am-11pm and two meals.

SPONSORS: If you are sponsoring someone (or several) to be ordained, or if they are requesting a Blessing of The Path, please contact deTraci Regula or Justin Howard with a list as soon as possible. E-mail: Isisoasistoi@gmail.com

PRESENTERS and those wishing to do so: The deadline for presentations and proposals (title and blurb description of what you wish to present) is now due. If you have not already done so, please contact deTraci Regula or Justin Howard. Presenters receive compensation of one free night of room and board. E-mail: Isisoasistoi@gmail.com

The line-up for this year's event has come together beautifully. We truly thank each and every person who attends and all those who volunteer their time and effort to make this event happen. Blessings of Anuket and Hapi to you all, and to the free flowing of loving friendship, we have all enjoyed over the years, as we gather together once again for convocation in 2019.

The Silvery Grotto of Diana

"Enter into the silvery grotto, it’s marvelous, everything seems silvery. There are deer here and there are animals, everything is beautiful. And there is the Queen there, Queen Diana, queen of magic, queen of night. Beautiful. While we lie in bed losing our consciousness in sleep, she is always there, and she is here with us now. We ask her to make our dreams come true. We ask her to bring her dreams to us, and she will show them to us in her mirror during the coming year on earth. She summons our dreams in the magic of beauty and love. Out in dreams we wander, venture, we venture throughout space. Having the traveler’s heart we turn about. She holds the magic mirror. And she shows that what we dream at night happens next day. Believe it. Yes, this is true. We leave our dreams for now, to have another dream." ~ Excerpt from a guided journey given by Olivia Robertson in Phoenix, Arizona, November 12, 2001. The entire guided journey is offered at Fellowship of Isis Central: Dawn of the New Aeon

Happy Summer Solstice!

"Invocation: I invoke the Sun Goddess Grainne. (Devotee drops incense on the fire or in the pot.) Divine Grainne, accept this incense, in gratitude for Thy life-giving rays.

Let there be music throughout the ceremony.

Devotee: The teaming summer has come, bringing life in its arms, and strews rosy flowers on the face of hill and dale. In lovely harmony the wood has put on its green mantle, and summer is on her throne, playing her string music. The willow whose harp hung silently when it was withered in winter, now gives forth melody - Hush! Listen! The world is alive.

Dancers glide towards the fire, and one, representing Grainne, sinks by the altar, as if asleep. The others, representing planets, form a maze dance around the fire.

Devotee: The God Lugh stretches His long white arm above the hills. Across the sky fly the Immortal Children of the Light, the White Swans of Lir. They call upon their sister, who gilds their wings with gold."

FOI Chicago Annual Autumn Goddess Festival

Hello Everybody!

FOI Chicago in cooperation with the Prop Thtr will host the
FOI Chicago's 26th Annual Autumn Goddess Convention & Festival
Thursday, Oct. 3, Fri. Oct. 4, and Sat. Oct. 5 at:

Prop Thtr, 3502 N. Elston Ave., Chicago, IL 60618.

Our featured liturgy is from the FOI liturgical book, Urania:  The Magic of Saturn and Astarte.

The Call for Presentations includes not only topics relating to the liturgy, but those of your own
special interests: Nature, the performing and visual arts, music, spiritual practices, the ancient world,
astronomy, astrology, poetry, divination, animal and human rights, cultural studies, etc.

It is a three day event this year, something we haven't had an opportunity to do for a very long time.
Some merchants will be on hand with their wares only on Saturday, others might be there for Thurs. and Fri.
Space is limited, we have to provide our own tables but the theater has chairs.  Vendors are encouraged
to have standing displays if possible to maximize the spaces.  We'll work with all for the best results possible.

The tentative program is in development.  There will be some merchants each day.
The program, speakers, entertainers, vendors, volunteers, etc. are beginning to be booked now.

Thurs., Oct. 3 - Festival Day - Rehearsal and fine tuning the set up.  Thursday is dedicated to Dionysus as patron god of Performance, Transcendence, and Transformation, and the Muses for Inspiration and Creativity.
There will be a couple of Powerpoint slideshows and an Open Mike. (Sign up soon!)

Fri., Oct. 4 - Reception and Pagan Cabaret - over 21 only.  Presentations, music, dancers, and divination.
Light refreshments will be served at the reception.  Astarte, Adonis, Aphrodite, Eros, and Hermes are the featured
deities of the afternoon and evening's activities.  We are blessed to have performers from the Harem of Oddities who will dance for us and the gods this night.

Sat. Oct. 5 - Convention Day - registration at 9:30 AM, program begins at 10 AM.  Astarte & Adonis altar,
Ancestor Shrine, Saturn & Rhea/Cybele shrine, Astarte workshop, Powerpoint presentations, meditation, liturgy, ritual, and fellowship.

Free Parking is available on the streets around the theater.  A small public park and playground
are across the street at Troy Ave., and Elston, a welcome bit of Nature in the midst of the city.

Restaurants, bars, a shopping center, bank, and stores are close by as well as the Kennedy
Expressway (I-90-94) at Addison or Belmont.  The nearest CTA Blue Line station is at Addison and
the Kennedy, about 5 or 6 blocks away; the Kimball bus is only 3 blocks west of the theater, while the
California bus turns around a few blocks from there.

CTA Blue, Brown and Red Lines also connect with Addison and Belmont buses bringing one
within a block or three of the theater.  Hotels are in a radius of about 15-40 minutes driving time,
depending on traffic and location.  There's quite a few bed & breakfast places around the area,
which is close to Wrigley Field, Boys' Town, Lakeview, Logan Square, Bucktown, Wicker Park,
Old Irving Park, Thai Town, and more.

I'm excited to share this good news with you as we work on our convention and festival.
The Facebook event page will be updated as things develop.

Questions, ideas, comments?  Please write to me and let me know what you think.

Wishing You All the Best Summer Ever,
Demetria
